WHERE'S LATHAM WHEN WE NEED HIM ON ENERGY/SECURITY?

Jim Jorgenson writes a good letter in the Ames Tribune on Latham's AWOL on our energy and security needs:
Every single day, the United States sends a billion dollars in oil money to nations with ties to terror. Some of that money is funneled to the very same terrorist groups who are killing our troops and targeting America. Where is Tom Latham? Certainly not where we need him.

Further, the issue of climate change has significant impact on our security as well. The Defense Department’s Quadrennial Defense Review says, “Climate change will have significant geopolitical impacts around the world, contributing to poverty ... and weakening fragile governments.” Weak governments and failed states are often the safe havens and breeding grounds of terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Where is Tom Latham? Certainly not where we need him.

Massive climate change has the potential to create many more terrorists. Where is Tom Latham? Certainly not where we need him.

There is a bill in Congress, right now, that would cut our oil dependence in half, while limiting carbon emissions that contribute to climate change. That bill would strike a blow at terrorist funding and help prevent terrorists from being created in the future. Where is Tom Latham? Certainly not where we need him.

As a veteran of Vietnam, I believe there is nothing more important to America than keeping our nation and our troops safe. That is why I believe the Congress, especially our 4th District Representative, Tom Latham, must pass the Clean Energy bill, and have President Obama sign it. We must do it for our troops, and for America.
